ABOUT THE ARTIST

A stylized self-portrait of a smiling young woman with short brown hair and blue eyes.

Sara is a novelist and illustrator passionate about the complicated journey of learning to love and liberate our whole selves. Her work explores themes of identity, connection, courage, escaping coercive control, and healing from complex trauma.

She loves adventure and coming of age stories, the exploration of the everyday humanity within the extraordinary; those stories that inspire us to embrace our rough edges and the reality of who we are and learn how to be a unique source of good in the world.

She grew up in the Pacific Northwest concocting all manner of make believe, always working on a large writing project of some sort.

She attended college at George Fox University, studying biology, writing, and Spanish, while writing novels and sketching characters in her free time. After graduating in 2015, she threw herself wholeheartedly into studying illustration and comics at Academy of Art University, and graduated with a Master's degree in 2018.

Since then, in between freelance work for independent clients, her artwork has appeared in various local art events, and she launched her ongoing webcomic, "Julienne," in October 2022.

She is excited to see where her love of storytelling takes her next!
